Travel Photo: Hill Tribe Girl In Chiang Mai

We met this girl on the steps leading up to Doi Sutthep Temple in Chiang Mai. It was a long walk so we took a few rests on the way – during which she approached us and said she wanted to take a photo in almost perfect English (it seemed she could also speak a little German and probably a few other languages too) and grabbed the camera in the pic and used it without a single question as to how. Unfortunately I don’t have the images she took!

Not much else was said or done – one of our group gave her some money for one of the trinkets that the girl and her family were selling on the steps and we carried on to the mountain’s summit. We then spent the afternoon exploring the beautiful temple above – but somehow – this strange, somewhat incomplete experience stuck out.

The following images were taken in the grounds of the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. An incredibly beautiful and spiritual place – though a little full for our liking.

This image of a Hill tribe girl in Chiang Mai is one in a series of travel photos that we will post to highlight the unique, less explored aspects of travel. Click here to see the whole series.
